 Hyperpigmentation

Uneven pigmentation in skin is referred to as hyperpigmentation. It can appear as darkened patches or spots on the skin that can vary in size and color making it look uneven. The spots are known as age spots or sun spots and hyperpigmentation is also at the heart of skin conditions such as melasma.

Melasma

Melasma, also known as chloasma, is a form of hyperpigmentation that appears on the face, especially on the cheeks, bridge of the nose, forehead and upper lip and sometimes on other sun-exposed parts of the body. Men can experience melasma, but it is much more common in women, especially during and after pregnancy.

Chemical peels, topical prescription medications and Fraxel treatments can address melasma.

Sun Spots

Sun spots, also known as age spots, are small areas of discoloration that frequently appear on the face, hands and other parts of the body regularly exposed to the sun.

Intense Pulsed Light (IPL) Photofacial is a non-invasive, laser-light treatment that delivers high-intensity light into the deeper layers of the skin. It is an effective treatment for pigment issues, such as sun spots. Adjustments are made to the range and wavelength of the light emitted during the treatment to meet specific needs.
